Introduction
Patrick has been with Strategy3 since 2003. He has worked in multiple manufacturing environments during his time with the company. With a background in Industrial Engineering, his experience includes serving industries such as: powder coating, appliance manufacturing, food manufacturing, enamel systems, stamping operations, plastic molding, pumps and motors, cellular manufacturing, distribution, as well as aerospace. In 2016 he transitioned to supporting the company in the VP Business Development role. |
Profile
Patrick has implemented several lean manufacturing techniques. Those include: Kanban systems between multiple sites, Preventive Maintenance programs, Kanban pull systems within facilities, Metrics tracking and implementation, Lead time reduction, Ingredient waste reduction, Labor reduction, Single Minute Exchange of Dies (S.M.E.D.), Facility layouts, Facility re-designs, 7 wastes reduction, as well as 5S programs. His projects have led him to drive significant savings for the clients he serves including: 15% to 25% labor reduction, 30% floor space savings, 40% Product build lead time reduction, and 45% changeover reduction.
Relevant Industry Experience
Food Manufacturing
Implemented Kanban systems between multiple sites that led to reduction of 50% in WIP and minimum loss of product. Implemented labor savings and reductions of up to 25% on some lines, while 15% across the board in favorable labor variances. Instituted ‘relief teams’ on multiple lines for reduction of scheduled downtime. Lead credit charge-back programs to vendors supplying clients with lower than expected yields on ingredients. In addition, he has also lead several Cap-Ex projects resulting in ROI’s.
Aerospace Manufacturing
Evaluated current process for a leading Government supplier for aerospace products. Implemented entire new system whereby customer lead-time reduced from 12 weeks to 1 week for a 91.6% reduction. Past Dues on customer orders dropped from $1,000,000 to only $4,000 in 3 months. Implemented tooling catalogue in parallel to 5S program.
Powder-Coat and Enamel Manufacturing
Improved powder-coat line in changeover reduction by 45%. Savings yielded over 200K on an annual basis.
Implemented First Piece Yield tracking program on an enamel line. Increased production in screen enamel process by over 35%.
Facility Design
Supported the move of entire manufacturing facility and re-design of plant layout. Layout inclusive of cellular manufacturing, with 25% + labor efficiency gains.
Maintenance
Implemented Work Order system for both scheduled and non-scheduled tasks, including emergency Work Orders. Reversed the ratio of 80% non-scheduled tasks and 20% scheduled tasks to 80% scheduled tasks and 20% unscheduled tasks. Captured relevant down-time tracking data by machinery and area. Integrated Maintenance earned hours into the Preventive Maintenance program.
Distribution
As Director of Operations, was responsible for the oversight of 9 facilities, containing 11 warehouses and over 9 Operations Manager Direct reports. Lead procurement and leverage-buy programs resulting in savings of 25% - 30%. Decreased year over year case cost of distribution by $0.05 over 22M+ cases annually.
