Organizational Structure Planning

Often companies are forced to reanalyze their Organizational Structure, due to growth pains or perhaps a change in vision.  This fundamental review of the Organizational Structure can better facilitate where your company needs to go.  Strategy3 is an objective source to help review and recommend changes to this structure.  No two companies are exactly alike, and the Organizational Structure should be devised accordingly.

Statements of Work

A food processor company had its Leadership team wearing several hats, creating an atmosphere of non-productivity and little accountability.  To couple this, there was a known need for systemic leadership change within its Maintenance and Facility / Grounds departments.  Strategy3 evaluated the entire Organizational Structure, top down.  Prior to making recommendations, Strategy3 shadowed some of the Leadership within the departments of interest to fully understand their scopes and their day to day activities and responsibilities.  Strategy3 quickly uncovered constraints within these departments which could be adjusted through a re-written Organizational Structure.  After a well-received proposal to the President and CEO, the newly revised Structure was approved and went into effect soon thereafter.  The Department Leaders which were shadowed by Strategy3 began the transitions of responsibilities and were able to embrace the changes even ahead of time.

A family-owned company that serves much of the Midwest had operated the same way for decades, with little communication between departments.  Rather than operating cross-functionally, each department ran itself as a separate silo and had little regard to the other departments.  At a growth rate of nearly 10% per year, the company suffered from making cross-department changes that resonated throughout the organization.  Strategy3 met with its leadership team and mapped out the company’s future goals, what had been working well, as well as what was not working well for the client.  The process was inclusive, and Strategy3 was again able to work with each department head to realize the shortcomings of the current structure.  With feedback from each department head as well as the ownership, Strategy3 proposed Organizational Structure that would foster growth, change, and better communication.  The plan was ultimately approved and put into place successfully.
